A human adult or animal is one who has grown to its full potential. In the context of humans adults have meanings associated with moral and social concepts. As opposed to a "non-adult" or "minor" legally adult has attained the age of majority. They are considered to be independent, self-sufficient, and responsible. Also, they can be described as a "major". 18 is the typical minimum age to become an adult however, this can vary based on the country of origin and status in law, as well the maturity of the mind.
